Marketing Tip: Referrals and how to get them

What are the very best ways to get clients?
1) Face to Face meeting them in person and building a relationship
(networking, public speaking etc.)
2) REFERRALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So how do you get referrals?

1) Pay someone to "look out for you" and recommend you when they come across opportunities for you.
2) If you are a reputable business person (I hope you are) your friends, acquaintances and family should be happy to give them to you.

Some people are just not very likely to recommend anyone ever. It is part of their personality. Others overdo it and make recommendations even if they don't really know your work and others are conscientious referrers. Those are the best because they recommend good people and their contacts trust their recommendations.

How do you get them to recommend you? Appreciation! Express your appreciate buy getting them a gift every time you hear from someone that they recommended. (remember, always asks your prospects how they found out about you). What are other ways? Send flowers, gift certificates, buy them coffee or lunch, offer them a discount on your products or services, or just call them and say "THANK YOU!!!!"

If you respect that person as a business person and trust that they will offer excellent service and honesty return the favor!

Everyone loves to be appreciated even if it didn't cost much to show them that appreciation. It is critical because this encourages them to do it over and over again.
