Plan for (some) Failure
We all have health and fitness goals. While you dig and claw your way to a slimmer body, healthier heart or finishing your first triathlon- there will be setbacks.
You may miss a workout. You might eat a cheese burger. Maybe you have a work function that will limit your exercise or you might just enjoy one too many beers at the beach. Plan for these minor hiccups. You will only reach your goals if you know how to handle adversity. And believe me, you will experience it. The question is- how will you handle it?
THE PLAN
- Mentally "Get Over it!" Six beers over the weekend will limit results. You know that, but don't dwell on it.
- Adapt/Adjust. Try to plan your workouts around a vacation or work travel plans if you know they are coming.
You can't take back eating the cheese burger, but you can hop on the the treadmill for a little extra calorie burning.
- Settle back in. After you have realized the issue and adjusted, it will be easy to get back on track.
You won't be perfect, but the damage can be kept to a minimum. Don't let anything get in your way as you work toward your health and fitness goals!
