The Sarasota Film Festival opened with a bang! Time and again, I heard people exclaim that the film, “The Messenger” was one of the best, if not the best, Opening Night films to date. The film took a courageous look at a difficult subject-- the task of delivering the message that no one wants to hear, the message that a loved one has been “killed,” “is dead” because of their service in the war. As director Oren Moverman said, the film shines a light on “the backstage of war” that affects us…

My favorite film choices at the Sarasota Film Festival always include those films in which the filmmakers are present. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to watch the film with the creaters of it, and ask them your burning questions at a Q&A in the theater directly following the movie. We've got the list for you of the movies which feature Q&A's, so you don't miss out.

I have always been a very strong advocate for women and believe we should join forces and help each other in any way we can. There has been a 'good old boys club' for many years. They network, promote and help each other all them time in business.
So, ladies, it's our turn! Women have been under-rated, under-appreciated, and under-paid for far too long! It's time for us to work together and support each other so we can all be more successful in our businesses.
I am a…

Renewable Energy Dividends are good for ALL of THE PEOPLE in Florida because everyone can profit from putting solar on their own roofs. We need to make our voices heard now!!! WE LIVE IN PUBLIC
This award-winning film by director, Ondi Timoner documents the rise of Internet pioneer Josh Harris to the top of the NYC tech world, his performance art project QUIET and his personal surveillance project WE LIVE IN PUBLIC, and the toll this online living took on Harris' life and fortune. It’s time for the Sarasota Film Festival, March 27 – April 5, 2009. For ten days, you won’t be able to go anywhere near the Hollywood 20 without feeling the high energy excitement! The opportunities abound. You’ll see yet-to-be released films personally selected by programming staff for their potential for greatness. Months later, you may find your self boasting that you met the filmmaker when the film is shown at Regal Cinemas or Burns Court. Or due to stiff industry competition, you may view…

1. Choose films early. Some of the best films sell out early.
2. Hang Around the Box Office. You’ll hear other film-goers talk about what films to see. And you might meet film-makers promoting their films.
3. Talk to Strangers. You never know who you might be talking to. Spread the word about which films are and aren’t worth seeing.
4. Even though you may already have tickets, arrive at the theater early. There will be lines.
5. Broaden your horizons.…

I am sitting in the shop staring out into this beautiful day and wondering if the world has come to an abrupt end. Is Sarasota some secret ghost town with its only inhabitant being a bored shop mistress?

Ladies and gents, why even think of paying retail in this downtrodden economy? Consignment shops like mine offer you the same deluxe labels for a fraction of the cost. Not to mention that you get a very fun and cheerful shopping experience on the waters of Siesta Key. Ok so maybe the intercoastal but who cares?
Anyway, I'd love to take a look at your clothing, shoes and accessories. Right now we are accepting high end and very GENTLY used items for spring and summer. We adore our…
