Relationship Tip of the Week: Remember What You Used to Know

Once people have a landed a relationship, they often forget to use the skills that helped them attract their mate in the beginning. In the initial phase of love, people employ lots of positive relationship skills like giving compliments, arranging special dates, creating romance, being affectionate, keeping in frequent communication and planning surprises. Most people do these things in an attempt to win someone’s heart. Other people are charmers whose superficial charm soon fades. Yet even…

How Soon We Forget!

As we attempt to make a quick trip to the store, wait in lines or notice that there are cars and people everywhere, it might be hard not to grumble at least slightly.

However, as you look at all those out of state license plates and think of the good ol’ days of summer. Don’t forget those good ol’ days were overshadowed by the fallout from an oil spill and the deflation of the housing market. This summer the discussion was of empty guest rooms across all types of resort…

Great deal for eats...

Wow, just had a great time at Urban Flats. A bottle of wine, great food and best of all my sweetheart Andy. The best part is that it only cost us $25. I found this great website called www.Dealoria.com. They have some great deals. Now they have dance lessons, so I am trying to give Andy the hint:)

PAMPER ME

BRrrrrrrrrrrr….. in Miami!?

Yes, I was in Miami this past weekend and I don’t know what I was thinking bringing my lusciously warm ‘Pampered’ Beaubeau, an exquisite blend of soft cashmere and cotton jersey. It’s of course a must-have on

my occasional trips north to Philly, but not one I get to wear often in

Florida and especially not tropical Miami.

Apparently Miami has displaced itself on the map because it was anything but…

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT AT 89?

I’ve never been a passive adult patient. I refuse to accept the medical preconception of my body as a vesicle-in-waiting for disease. I never accept a quick prescription symptom fix in lieu of thorough

exploration and diagnosis from the doctor. I have more experience than I

ever wished for in advocating for myself within our health care

system. So naturally, when my 89-yr-old mother developed debilitating

pain in her back, I…

Relationship Advertising: 10 Ideas For Preserving Purchaser's Happiness

You’ve probably heard the saying “It is easier to keep a current

Time to Review, Revise and Plan to Make it Happen!

The holidays are almost here. This year has gone by in a whirlwind. As I journal each day, I have been amazed at how quickly the numbers I write at the top of the page have changed. How could it be the end of November so quickly?

The truth is, with two teenage daughters, a reorganized…

DAILY GRATITUDE

Each day we awake to a world in which health, good fortune, justice, well-being and community exist side-by-side with illness, suffering, injustice, despair and isolation. While most of us will experience to

greater or lesser degree the whole panorama of life’s up’s and down’s, I

know that there are far too many people who know only illness,

suffering, injustice, despair and isolation. From my desk in Florida, I

need look no…

With friends and family over for Thanksgiving dinner, you want your home to make a wonderful first impression as they walk in. Most hosts stress over the meal; however, there’s much more to Thanksgiving dinner

than the meal. Not only do you need to prepare the table, you need to

prepare your home.

Cornbread and Mushroom Stuffing

It’s really the side dishes that make Thanksgiving dinner so wonderful. Recipes like this one are one of the reasons why. Try this cornbread and mushroom stuffing using any combination of mushrooms you like. Relationship Tip of the Week: This Thanksgiving, make a list and check it twice

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the abundance in our lives – a time for gratitude. Yet, when people count their blessings, they tend to generalize – such as being grateful for a spouse or loved one, but not taking the time to reflect on all the specific reasons. This week, take the time to make a list of all of the things in your relationship for which you are grateful. Consider all the tangible and intangible gifts your relationship has brought into your life – from the little gestures,… Continue

What is a real man? Who are the real men? What is your definition?

Many women have their own concept of what defines a "real man". I believe that men also have their own idea of who the real men are as well. What is a real man to you? Who are the real men in your life? And where do you find these men? How often do you run into someone who fits your conception of a real man?

To me a real man knows who he is, does not need to prove anything yet strives to do his best, has a commitment to operating from integrity, maintains ethics, is not afraid to show or… Continue

EPILOGUE TO “MOTH AND BUTTERFLY”

“I have made a decision, and luckily, if I don’t like it, I can always change my mind, right? Right.” Right again. And again…..

If we are lucky and we work hard, we sometimes come to a place of self-acceptance, a time and place in life where we accept our bald selves, for a day, for a month, for months or years, and then, often, we

start all over again.

As a bald woman, I’ve learned that self-acceptance is neither stationary nor…

Five Months after a Keratin Treatment

Five months ago, I wrote a glorious review of the results of my first Keratin treatment – a treatment that miraculously seemed to eliminate the frizzies, producing a mass of silky smooth hair instead. Written six weeks after the treatment, I couldn’t be sure at the time that the treatment would last the five months Erin Dawson at Inspirations Salon predicted it would. Other salons had reported a duration of three to four months, but Erin was right on… Continue
