BLEPHARITIS-What is it and how to treat it

Blepharitis is an overgrowth of dead skin cells and bacteria that is normally found on the skin, and has blocked the eyelash follicle. Blepharitis is a common eye condition, causing the eyelids to be reddened, itchy and somewhat swollen. Overtime, scales become coarser, and crusts form on the lid. The natural lashes become thinner and sparse causing gaps between the natural lashes. Crusts may fall into the eye which feels like a gritty sensation.

RELATIONSHIP TIP OF THE WEEK: Prevent the Invasion of the In-Laws

Time around family over the holidays can sometimes create tension in relationships. If you are one of the unfortunate ones who have in-laws or parents who are critical or non-supportive of your relationship, be sure to put a protective bubble around your relationship this holiday season. By that I mean, make a conscious effort to prevent intrusion in your relationship. Remember that your relationship with your spouse is your primary relationship now. If your parents are saying or doing negative… Continue

Social Etiquette Tip of the Week - “Shopping with Manners - Don’t be THAT Holiday Shopper”

I was shopping in a department store the other day and there were three people in the line. Only one register was open…I'm second of three. Behind me is a woman with an armload of items…I have one!

Another sales clerk arrives on the scene…opens a new register…and says the usual "may I help the next person in line." The woman in front of me, who technically was next in line, starts to move toward that register, but the one behind me, with the armload of stuff, makes it there… Continue

The Origins of Decking the Hall

"Deck the halls" we sing and deck them we do, but have you ever wondered how all that decking started? Evergreen branches have been used as decorations in homes near the winter solstice since Roman times. December 21 was the day to commemorate the death of the sun god and his resurrection every year. Romans gave evergreen boughs to each other as gifts, the green branches symbolizing new life. Early Christians wisely used that pagan… Continue

Marketing Tip of the Week: Strategic Partners

This is critical. Strategic partners can save you a lot of time because they will send clients to you or team up with you on a project that you might not have even heard about.

Far too many business people spread their loyalties too thin. Are you partnering with someone who hasn't sent you a referral in a year and half? I would bet that they have "partnered" with some of your competitors. Pretty lame right?

This approach is better: Find a potential strategic partner (you… Continue

HOLIDAY GRATITUDE!

As 2009’s ‘Season of Cheer ‘ arrives on the heels of a year that has brought so much hardship to so many people, I admit that I have been struggling to get into a holiday frame of mind. I once heard a piece of advice that I never forgot - that the best cure for boosting your spirits is by helping someone else. Those words are ringing true more than ever for me. Throughout the course of the year, I am blessed by the notes and letters of gratitude… Continue

Having a Dickens of a Christmas is Fun

There can be a lot of waiting around at Christmas. If you are a little bored with your family sitting around during the holiday season, do what the Victorians did! Play parlor games! Have An Exciting New Year's Party By Incorporating Traditions From Around The World

New Year's Eve parties can be great fun OR they can be as dull as dirt as you wait around for the midnight hour and the ball drop and the champagne toast and the kiss. Here are some ideas -- and they work because I've done them!

Dear Coach: Home for the Holidays: Warm and Secure or Fodder for a Binge?

Often in health and weight-loss coaching one of the main topics to come up is that of Holidays, family and food. A recent client conversation reminded me of the "boomerang" affects that being home for the Holidays has on her. You just might relate to what she says below:

"My usual pattern on Holidays is that I make it all the way through," she says. What she means is that she doesn't even touch the sweets and treats -- avoids the alcohol, the breads and fatty foods --… Continue
