Restaurants don’t have to be a dieter’s downfall; they can be a dieter’s dream – if you’re assertive with the wait staff and know how to order. Here are some tricks our Biggest Loser Sarasota Participants can use to avoid some of the common pitfalls of eating out.

Fear of Change
Fear of change can keep you in a soul-crushing job, a bad relationship, or a physically destructive lifestyle. Ask yourself: Is the devil-you-know approach really good enough for you? Is your life making you happy? If you answered no to either of those questions, WHAT do you have to lose by embracing change?
The truth is, things should be changing — your body is changing, your habits are changing, your attitude is changing. This might be the point where, because…

I hate
Girl Scout cookies. Notice I said
"the cookies" not the Girl Scouts.
They started just as the first World War ended in Muskogee Oklahoma. That's right, the year of the Russian Revolution, they were peddled in a high school cafeteria. That was just five years after the Girl Scouts themselves got going. The organization is built on the hustle.
I have to admit that during the 1970's I was a…

Have you ever wanted to march across the beach fearlessly in your bathing suit? Or perhaps you've been wanting to wear those super cute workout shorts (ladies) or that tight fitting workout shirt (gentlemen) but don't feel confident enough? Maybe you've been contemplating trying a new workout routine but don't know where to start. Well then ponder this, written by the great American writer Mark Twain:
"Twenty years from now you will be disappointed by the things that you…

Make a decision to eliminate “I disagree” form your relationship. It’s an inflammatory statement which almost never leads to a positive outcome. The purpose is generally to make the other person wrong and convince him to join your side. Does that seem loving?
You don’t…

New Orleans, LA – Earlier this week, New Orleans police arrested Richard and Marian Kreutzer on charges of

The discovery was made after the house had been sold and the new owners were digging flower beds. “We found the first few bodies…

Razor Wars...
This is a bit of a rant, please forgive me.
Just because you have a new product doesn't mean that your target market is stupid! Show respect to your clients by pricing your products within reason or your clients will start noticing and realize that the value is less than the price.
Did you know that razor blades for currently available razor blade handles are between $2 and $4 each! Ridiculous right!? Schick and Gillette are trying to outdo each…

We all want to feel healthy and look younger as we get older, it is a natural desire. What we need to establish is a daily regimen consisting of eating whole foods -- preferably organic, exercising, sleeping 8 hours or more per night and drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Simple to write, but sometimes it can be difficult to do. We need to make a promise to ourselves that we are worth it and this regimen can become a habit like any other.
Without a doubt, we should avoid is…

Are you trying to eat healthy, but that good ‘ol sweet tooth (some call it the “pasta and bread tooth”) gets the better of you?
One thing is for sure, just knowing why sugar and refined carbohydrates are bad for you may not be enough to get you to stop eating them. Many people do things that are bad for them because they “feel so good…

Remorse + Behavior Change = The Perfect Apology
Apologies alone are only words. Although we all like to hear “I’m sorry”, an apology is only meaningful if the words are backed up with a change in behavior. True forgiveness doesn’t occur with the sound of “I’m sorry.” True…

Why are we so serious when we become mothers?
Is it because we have no sleep, no breaks, never ending housework and chores, no or very little praise and acknowledgement, no vacations, no bonuses or raises or salaries for that matter and we never seem to get caught up with everything ever? Hmm, seems like those could be some of the reasons.
