Bald Love

MOTH AND BUTTERFLY by Terese Weir

Ever look in an empty cocoon as a most glorious butterfly leaves it? I’ll bet there’s a mirror in it.

When a woman loses her hair, which for her has been a safe haven and the only part of her body she truly believes is spectacular, she desperately wants to trust that her husband loves her for who she is, not for the dead protein on the top of her head. But when rage replaces reason, no soft whisper or kiss at the back of her now hairless neck is… Continue

RELATIONSHIP TIP OF THE WEEK: Earn Your Way Out

The number one reason relationships fail isn’t poor communication or growing apart or any of the other many reasons people give for the end of a relationship; it’s a lack of commitment to do whatever it takes to make the relationship work. At least that’s the view from the therapist’s chair in which I sit. In today’s world where there are so many single, separated and…

RECIPE OF THE WEEK: Turkey Meatballs with Cilantro Relish Dip

I served these meatballs at a get-together for the Oscars. The original meatball recipe called for simmering the the meatballs in tomato sauce instead of baking. I baked the meatballs and served them with both marinara sauce and the cilantro relish dip. The cilantro relish dip made the biggest hit with my friends. The turkey meatballs are a recipe from Giada de Laurentis' show, "Everyday Italian". The dip is from "In Style" magazine, June…

Marketing: Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization has become an area where we all need to know more about what is being offered to us. I would argue that most companies need to do search optimization up front or one time than to pay for month to month optimization. If someone is searching for a massage therapist for example the are most likely going to type "massage therapist" or "[city you are in] massage therapist".

So who needs it? If you are in a competitive industry then you…

RELATIONSHIP TIP OF THE WEEK: Let Your Anger Be Known

Did any of you bristle when you read this tip? Many people are uncomfortable expressing anger. Most people express it poorly. Often, anger is expressed in indirect ways –an exasperated or harsh tone, silent withdrawal, sulking or a sarcastic remark. When anger is expressed indirectly, the other person involved feels the anger, but is clueless as to what triggered the reaction. What is being unspoken often feels like…

The Value of Communication

The Value of Communication can't be taken for granted. It is way more than saying what you have to say. Is anybody listening? How would you know if people understood what you were trying to communicate to them? Wouldn't they need to indicate somehow that they got it? I have heard friends quickly say, "know what I mean", but not wait to find out!

What is your role as the receiver? You hear what is said, but now the question is did you hear what you wanted to hear, or did you…

Effective Speaking Skills

There are several things a person can to do be an effective and memorable speaker. A while back, I was a member of Toastmasters International for six and a half years. These are some of the things I learned and continue to use in my motivational presentations.

1. Have a strong opening - I often begin with a question to immediately engage your audience.

2. Continue to engage the audience by asking them questions during the presentation.

3. Remember - less is more. Better to…

Using X-Rays to Decipher the Mystery of Acupuncture

http://www.harmonyhealthsrq.com

The Chinese are using their most expensive science project ever, a powerful X-Ray machine called a synchroton, to unravel the mystery of how acupuncture works.

So far, the tests are dramatic, according to news reports. Acupuncture points, the results show, are physiologically different than the rest of the body.…

Marketing Update: Perseverance pays off!

recently saw an article called "Strong New Vehicles behind Ford Success". The truth is more like... Ford's quality improvements, perseverance, and [years of] social networking is behind Ford's Success. Ford has been working very hard for many years improving its vehicles and pushing that information out there so we know about it. Ford has taken social media by the horns and used it… Continue
