"No" is the correct answer. Unfortunately "Yes" is too simple and easy. If that were true, all of us would have the bodies we want!
If you think that 2,000 calories from chicken breast, potatoes, and broccoli are equal to 2000 calories of doughnuts, Moon Pies, Oreo’s, Twinkies and Butter Cups, you are mistaken.
These foods metabolize very differently inside your body. The high sugar content in the fat infused foods will cause a sugar spike, which will result in the…

Maybe the economy is getting a little better. I know many people who have had to scramble to keep above water. So there will be a recovery and jobs and real estate sales will improve. While there is still less business, this is a good time to look ahead and think of ways you can position your business for the recovery. I'd like to hear what some of your are thinking about this idea. Here is a real life example.
One of my (4) sons has a kitchen countertop business in Harrisburg, PA.…

It’s becoming clear that Apron’s Cooking School’s Basics of Culinary class is not about learning to boil water and scramble eggs. It’s about learning the techniques of cooking—many of which the average cook doesn’t normally incorporate into their repertoire. It's also about expanding that repertoire into the cuisine of different cultures.
After only two weeks in class, my fellow classmates are cooking more; they’re also trying to…

Cancer should not define us! My message to women who have lost their hair due to medical hair loss is: “Just because you have lost your hair does not mean you have to loose your sense of style”.
On October 4th,
4Women.com and
Kelietza are joining forces in an effort to bring this message to women living with cancer. We will host the “Scarf It Up for Women’s Cancer” benefit event to raise funding for a “Scarf Bank” at…

Don’t you hate walking into the gym and realizing you have no idea what you’re going to do? “Cardio first?” “No, maybe I’ll pump some iron first.” This type of indecisive behavior can limit your performance and success. You should know exactly what you are going to do and when.
Here is the plan, design two training plans (workout A and B) that include your cardio and resistance training. Make sure you have all the details covered including, type of cardio, time, specific exercises,…

"Follow the yellow brick road,
Follow the yellow brick road,
Follow, follow, follow, follow, follow the yellow brick road!" - Wizard of OZ
How I loved that scene out of the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy was in Munchkinland and Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, was telling her to follow the yellow brick road, so the Wizard could help her return home. It was so exciting, you could feel the suspense in the air because Dorothy had no idea what she would find on this path to Oz.…

Everyone wants to be successful in their business life. But how do we assure ourselves that we will be successful? Here are some pointers and traits to consider that will help us guanantee our professional success. Successful people have:
1. The ability to listen – and listen well. Always remember, we have two ears and one mouth, there’s a good reason for that.
2. Assertiveness – successful people know when to say ‘no’ and don’t hesitate to do so. They set limits for…

This recipe from this week's Basics of Culinary class at Publix Apron's Cooking School had everyone gushing with delight. In class, a few modifications were made to the recipe. Carrots were added to the salad. In the dressing, honey was substituted for the brown sugar; tamari and a splash of mirin were added. The duck was cooked on low heat for about 20 minutes. The end result...delicious!
Serves 6-8
Ingredients:

Sorry ladies, this tip doesn’t mean to put down your broom. What this tip really means is to stop sweeping the dirt in your relationship under the rug. With both friends and lovers, incidents will inevitably occur which provoke hurt or anger. In some situations, we can let go and move on with the relationship. But if any resentment is going to linger, then feelings need to be expressed. Ignoring incidents increases the likelihood that the same…

Here we are in Sunny Sarasota and one would think we are all getting plenty of vitamin D. Vitamin D is naturally produced by the body when exposed to sunlight. However many of us spend limited hours in the sun and slather on sun screen which blocks our exposure as well as toxins in the air. Many of our food sources use to contain D but with over farming it is no longer genuinely available. Did you know the more vitamin D circulating in our bloodstream the lower our body weight will be?…

I prefer to eat at local independent restaurants. Today I had the pleasure of dining at Karr's Cafe at 3025 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. Wow! Vegetarian, Vegan and "Where's the Beef" all in one restaurant. I highly recommend it. Remember local shopping and dining makes a huge different in our Local Economy.
