Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week (actually 2 weeks) started yesterday, and I was not going to miss out in spite of all the boxes left to unpack in my new home. Actually, I can’t think of a better reason to dine out, except maybe the phenomenal restaurant deals offered during Savor Sarasota. My entry into the week was intended to begin al fresco at Libby’s where the beautiful evening could be savored as well. What a disappointment it was when my friend called to say Libby’s was closed. Already on…

What is a Foster Parent?
A foster parent provides a temporary home for kittens, puppies,
dogs, cats, or other animals in need. The length of fostering can
vary from a few days to several months depending on the amount
of care or behavioral modification that is needed. The devotion
and care given during this time allows the animal a second
chance to be adopted by a loving home.
The…

Feeling the love within us can be quite a task at times.
We Moms get so caught up in getting our daily chores and duties done that we have no time for feeling the love that is within us.
I often remind myself as I am vacuuming and dusting and sorting out clothes all at the same time that I actually am loved and live a great life.
As I am running through the grocery store at full speed ahead, so that I am not late picking the kids up from school because it is pouring outside, I…

Confusing spreadsheets and penny-pinching are just a few things that come to mind when we hear the word budget. Indeed, budgeting can be a tedious task that we tend to do only when absolutely necessary. Yet the value it can provide in helping us continue to meet our financial goals cannot be discounted. And while budgeting is a detailed task, it doesn’t have to be a painful one.
Why should I budget?
The economic downturn has forced many individuals, regardless of their…

Daily snacks. Do you buy protein bars as a healthier alternative to a candy bar pick-me-up? You could easily be paying more than $2 per bar and consuming just as much sugar as you would with your favorite candy bar. Buy fruit for a fraction of the cost when you do your grocery shopping. You'll become fit and save money at the same time.
Bottled water. Yes, it's important to drink water every day. The bottled variety with your lunch is an expensive way to stay hydrated.…

Stay Tuned.
Listening to music can keep your motivation and intensity up during your workouts.
It will keep cardiovascular exercise exciting and upbeat...unless you are listening to country music of course, and in this case you may become depressed and have decreased intensity. So keep the music upbeat!
Also, music will keep you from staring at the TV with no real focus on the treadmill or bike. Sometimes watching TV alone will slow your intensity…

I woke up at 4 a.m. laden with thoughts of all the tasks still to be tackled before I complete my move to a new home tomorrow. Instead of futilely wrestling to go back to sleep, I decide that the only smart thing to do is to get up and start packing. Yet, over a cup of middle-of-the night coffee, I remember the thing that’s really been weighing on my mind all week; I haven’t had time to read the menus for Savor SarasotaRestaurant Week! It’s time I got my priorities straight! I couldn’t bear for…

You’ve likely heard about some of the Ponzi schemes that have served to erode investors’ trust in the financial industry. Heightened awareness of the issue—especially in light of the media storm generated by the Bernard Madoff scandal—may uncover more of these schemes in the future. But aside from knowing that these events aren’t good news, many people don’t really understand what a Ponzi scheme is and, more importantly, how to avoid becoming a victim of one.
Ponzi—a name that… Continue

In addition to my previous post a new law has been passed!
So the answer to the following questions has changed!
Can the New Owner Force me To Move?
Sometimes the new owner will schedule a hearing to ask the Judge for the Writ of Possession. If you are still living in the property and the new owner schedules a hearing asking for a Writ of Possession, it is very important that you attend the hearing so you can tell the Judge how much time you will need in order to… Continue

Mark Your Calendar
Print out the current month or create a check sheet. Each day you exercise, put a little smiley face or star next to the day. Continue this for the rest of the month.
At months end, you will have a pretty good idea of your fitness/activity level. Add up the days you exercised.
If you were active less than 12 days out of the month- kick yourself in the butt and try harder next month.
If you exercised 12 to 16 days- Job well done. You made…

Release your needless or burdensome practices, rules, ideas, or traits about Health and Wellness.
People’s emotions and experiences can influence their health behaviors. We develop beliefs about health, eating from our families, our culture and from media advertising. These all have an influence on our behavior.
Once people understand the origins of their beliefs about health and rid the opinions that have been holding them back, it is often easier to make behavior…

Downsizing:
For thousands of people, moving to smaller quarters is “out there” —meaning some time in the future. But for many of us, “I’m not ready yet,” really means, “I can’t stand the thought of getting ready to move.”
On the other hand, for most people, their home is their single largest asset, so maximizing what it will sell for is important. There are many things we can’t control. We can’t control what the mortgage interest rates will be when we sell our home. We can’t…

Just before walking into a Starbucks, a woman ties her Hound Mix to a newspaper machine outside the store. She grabs a coffee, pays for it and walks out. Total time: about 5 minutes. The dog is gone without a trace. She never sees him again. Unfortunately, this is not a made-up scenario to highlight a growing problem. "This happens frequently," notes Linda Fields, a journalist who founded FindFido.com, a nonprofit pet locater site, where people can post pictures and notices of lost…

Success is not an accident, but rather a byproduct of the discipline of daily activity.
Why you do this will impact how well you do this.
Your most fundamental task is to firmly establish what you desire to accomplish.
