We live in a world of instant gratification. However, when it comes to losing weight and getting your body into better shape, it takes time. Pills and injections are for an illness or injury... not weight loss. So, let’s set the record straight by saying, losing 10 to 15 pounds per week is not going to happen. If it did you will be losing crucial lean muscle tissue and water.
Fitness takes patience and perseverance. Most people give up on their goal because they lack one of these or…

After last night’s Basics of Culinary class at Publix Apron’s Cooking School, I’m going to have to re-evaluate whether I’m going to class to learn or to eat. If every meal is as good as last night’s, the answer will be to eat! It was Italian night and what better person to teach Italian cooking than a true Italian chef. Bob Vitiello, one of the resident chefs of Apron’s, is just that! In the cause of making an authentic Italian meal, Bob and…

Did you know that crows are highly intelligent and extremely adept at making humans work for them? An example: Crows in Japan learned to drop nuts into the middle of traffic so the cars would crack the shells for them. How creative is that?
Another example: A man had a crow as a pet. He was trying to teach him tricks. If he did them correctly he got a peanut. The crow got tired of doing the tricks. One day when the owner…

A recent forum post on an old house restoration and renovation website asked what they could do to hide the bright white vinyl replacement windows that the previous owners had installed. They didn't have the money to replace the windows, and the windows were still working fine, but were glaringly inappropriate for their historic home. For situations like this, an affordable solution is to install traditional wood window screens over the windows.…

The type of tea called “green tea” has long been consumed by the Chinese and Japanese almost exclusively, with cultural ties dating to the first millennium A.D. and, in particular, to tea ceremonies from the twelfth century.
In the initial phases of tea consumption in the United States and Europe, both black and green teas were regularly drunk. Over time, the British traveled down the tea road while the rest of Europe and the United States gradually turned to coffee.

Soy products (including tofu) have been found to produce an enzyme in humans that stimulate estrogen production in the body. Estrogen is present in men, but it is the hormone responsible for the secondary sexual characteristics in women such as hips, breasts, and the higher percentage of body fat. Excess estrogen in the body will not only produce more body fat but will also cause bloating and water retention. It also lacks the Thermic Effect* of animal-based…

It seems that everywhere I go lately I am held captive to conversations I have no interest in hearing. On a flight from Sarasota to JFK this past week we were delayed two hours due to bad weather in New York. The moment we touched down at JFK my seatmate whipped out his cell phone and proceeded to call everyone in his address book to inform them he was delayed. I had to hear the same story repeatedly,at a very high volume, while waiting to deplane.
How about standing in line at the…

When historic wood windows are in need of repair, many homeowners automatically assume it is time for wholesale replacement of all the windows in the house. This is not only an expensive, disruptive project, but also begins a long term replacement cycle that can be easily avoided while saving money, energy and being environmentally friendly. However, many homeowners are not fully informed about the issues related to replacement windows and the options for repair. Below are some of the factors…

First let’s dispel a myth. Viral Marketing is NOT just online. Viral marketing is any marketing that propagates itself rapidly. An person is a person who is already sold on a product or service (infected) “infects” more people. An old example of viral marketing is PEZ collectible candy dispensers. A modern example is Facebook which is growing exponentially.
Viral marketing is often associated with the internet because the internet has many great propagation systems from blogs to…

"You do not attract what you want; you create what you focus on."
- Dr. David Krueger - MentorPath
After reading this quote, everything seemed so clear to me, all I needed to do was focus on the positive. How easy I thought. Well, not so much. My mind constantly slips back into fearful, anxious or even violent thoughts. It's as if the angel is on one shoulder and the devil on the other just like in the cartoons. But in real life it isn't funny whatsoever.
This dark…
