Last week, I talked about the value of requesting what you want from your partner. This week’s tip is about what to do if your partner makes a request of you. The cherishing response for any reasonable request is to give it, if you can.
Notice that I said “reasonable.” That does not mean that you agree to let your partner watch you have sex with the UPS guy (yes, those kind of requests actually happen) or to any other request that violates your own sense of safety or principles.…

My last post listed many opportunities in the forms of National Product and Idea Hunts that didn't exist when I started inventing. I wish you all the best in creativity! There is a new one that I learned about since that last post.

Ever say, "Someone should have invented a _________________?" It can happen as a grumble as you are wrestling with an uncomfortable or downright difficult task. When I took an interest in patents and inventions back in 1998, the Independent Inventor seemed miles away from any resources. It felt like groping around in the dark and questions fielded by patent attorneys were submitted on "billable time." There were Patent Marketing Submissions Companies and Representatives but many were shady. We…

Fellow Students Watching the Cream Whip
I was greeted at The Basics of Culinary Class at Apron’s Cooking School with an apron and a name tag. I was beginning to feel like a real chef already. Being the last to arrive, I was pleased to see a small class of only nine people with an almost equal mix of men and women. “Good,” I thought “I won’t be making a fool of myself in front of…

From every media source we are challenged to find a way of living that will ensure the longevity and health of our environmental, economic, and social resources. We all want to do our part, but the plethora of information about "green" living, "green" technologies and "green" architecture can be overwhelming. Lucky for those of us with historic Florida homes, our houses are already built with many environmentally friendly assets that help us reduce energy consumption. Prior to the introduction…

If you are a newbie into the running world, remember these three tips before you hit the pavement.
1) Fuel
Consume a small meal at least one hour prior to your run. This allows for sufficient time for the digestive system to do its job. The last thing you want is to get half way out and have an upset stomach or become light-headed.
Some simple pre-run meals:
-English muffin with peanut butter (add a sliced banana on top for longer runs)
-Energy bar…

How do you get rid of symptoms of menopause?
Very few doctors give their patients a complete list of menopause symptoms. And besides symptoms of menopause, there are premenopause symptoms and perimenopause symptoms.
First, it's a long list, to be sure. And a woman's time in a doctor's office could get very long if she asked about even just a few of these.
Whatever the reason, here is a full list of the premenopause, perimenopause and symptoms of menopause. You…

You’ve spotted them at parties. They linger by the cheese display, blocking other guests from getting near the food. They park their cars in the middle of the driveway. They monopolize the host as if nobody else were around.
Rude party guests are everywhere. And their rudeness comes from being inconsiderate. The bad news is that many of us have been guilty of that at one time or another but, the good news is, when you start to think of others you instantly become the perfect party…

Hi! Have you or a loved one been diagnosed with breast cancer?
I am on the committee for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event. We have recently started a new program called Adopt-A-Fundraiser. When you Adopt-A-Fundraiser you are adopting a walker! You are helping your walker raise money by either donating a portion of your sales proceeds for a day/week/month or you are asking your friends and family to donate to your adopted walker! By adopting a walker you do not have to…

For all of those things you want to complain about in your relationship, change the complaints to requests. Requests are present or future-oriented which is what really matters anyway. Complaints are about what has already happened. The present is where we should be living; after all, we can’t change the past and hanging onto the negatives from it won’t do any good either.
Requesting your partner to do something is much more likely to…

No! Many people think that they can eat whatever they want and just work it off in the gym. This could not be further from the truth. Diet and cardio are responsible for 85% of the way that we look. If you do not eat the correct foods, you will probably not look the way you would like. Many people think that they can eat whatever they want and just work it off in the gym. You can be physically fit, exercise religiously, and still not look the way that you would like.

We are all seeking ways to reduce costs to help weather the current economic storm. This is particularly true for those of us in business for ourselves. One of the simplest ways to reduce significant overhead costs from many small business owners is to work from home. There are ample dollar-related reasons to work from home; working from home eliminates rent or mortgage payments on a separate office, eliminates commuting costs, and reduces electrical,…

“Why on earth are you going to take a Culinary course? You’re a great cook! You don’t need to learn anything!” exclaimed my mother. Although my mother may be biased, most people do consider me a good cook. My dishes are sought out at potlucks and praised at dinner parties. But what has heretofore been unveiled is the chaos behind the scenes. My knife skills are far from adequate. It usually takes me at least twice as long to make a recipe as the recipe suggests, and just as much time to…
